Safety & Security Issues
Your
safety, security and privacy are key issues for OpenMinders.com and
therefore we have taken the following measures to help and ensure your
safety and security.
- OpenMinders.com will NEVER
sell or give your email address to third parties. The email address you
supplied during the logon procedure will only be used for communication
between OpenMinders.com and yourself.
- OpenMinders.com provides an internal mailing system to
exchange messages between Members.
- Only Plus and Full Members are able to send personalized
messages via
this mail system.
- Irrespectively
of your membership status you will always have access to your
private OpenMinders.com mailbox and are able to read the messages that
have been sent to you.
- As a OpenMinders.com member you are able to activate email
alerts.
- To
ensure your safety and privacy OpenMinders.com advises against using
personal and private information in the first couple of messages.
- All profile characteristics are stored in a secure database
and are only accessible for a limited number of staff.
- None of the provided information will be disclosed to other
parties.
- All information that you provide is voluntary.
- Do not exchange your login name and password with any one
on the
site. A selected group of OpenMinders.com staff have access to your
details at all times and therefore do not need to ask for your password
or other site related information.
- All provided information will only be used in the matching
process.
- OpenMinders.com will NEVER
ask for any personal details
like addresses, phone numbers, bank details etc.
- OpenMinders.com is entitled to store your IP-address and preform a reference check of
this IP address in realtime against blacklists in order
to prevent abuse and discourage fakers and scammers of entering and
using the OpenMinders.com services.
- OpenMinders.com is entitled to request details about your
connection if abuse of the system has been detected.
- OpenMinders.com does not allow access to our service via open proxies services. This
rule has been implemented to
minimize fakers and scammers of entering and using OpenMinders.com.
- When connecting to OpenMinders.com your IP address will be
checked against the so called DNS blacklists. These blackliste are
generally
available and they list all IP addresses from which mallicious
activies, such as
open mail relays, open proxy servers, spam abuse, hackers etc, have
been recorded. Please check out the FAQ what to do if you get
a message that your IP address has been blacklisted.
- OpenMinders.com has implemented an advanced system
to monitor and early detect abuse and unproper behaviour of the
OpenMinders.com services. Please note that OpenMinders.com has done
everything to minimize the effect of these measures for the majority of
our members.
Although we have implemented and actively monitor for unintented
behaviour we can not 100% guarantee that no person with unintented
behaviour will still be able to enter the site and use our services.
Therefore your help in detecting unwanted behaviour is highly
appreciated.
Please report all members immediately via email at
abuse@OpenMinders.com
if you suspect or have evidence that these
persons are not who they say they are, or do have other intentions then
dating or getting to know you.
The following list will give you an indication what we consider as
unintended and unwanted behaviour on the site:
- people who will try to sell you a product or service.
- people who are after any of your personal details,
especially bank details and credit card
numbers but also phone numbers, mobile numbers etc, as from the first
contact. Please
note: you should never ever share your bank details and credit card
numbers with any one on the Web!
- stories where you have won a big prize, mostly huge amount
of money, but need to send money to release the funds.
- stories where they claim you have unpaid depts or bills.
- people
who say that they know who you are and/or where you live. Don't believe
them because this is simple not possible through our site.
- people
who pretend they are working for or are the site administrators of
OpenMinders.com. Never respond to these requests as OpenMinders.com
staff will only communicate directly via email with you.
- people who will tell you a very sad story and will then ask
you to contribute to help them out. Please be very mindfull when people
start telling you anything like the following:
- stories about a mum, dad, friend or relative who has
recently died, in a tragic
accident, and now the person needs to move and doesn't have
the money.
- stories where their kids or themselves are very ill and
need life
saving and obviously very expensive surgery.
- stories where the person wants to come over and visit you
for marriage and eternal happiness but just doesn't have enough money
for the ticket.
- very sad stories in general concerning, family,
relatives, friends, housing, pets, lost jobs, natural disasters etc etc
- when female members give you all their personal details,
like phone numbers and email addresses, in the first couple of
messages.
Please use the OpenMinders.com internal mail system to remain
anonymous for the first couple of messages. It is important to know and
realize that as soon as you start communicating outside OpenMinders.com, these people will then have your email address and
might use it for spam and other unwanted messages.

Chat service:
To protect you safety even
more, we have implemented an online chat
facility which will allow every Full Member to chat to an` other Full
Member without having to disclose any personal information. Because the
other person will only know your OpenMinders.com Nickname you can
remain anonymous for as long as you want when using the OpenMinders.com
chat facility. This is a great and very safe way to get the know the
other person a little bit better.
In
all situations OpenMinders.com advises to be cautious
when responding or contacting other members.
